Flakes, UTI's, and Vacation.... Yes, all in one.

Wanna know what's worse than dandruff flakes? (EWIE, I promise I don't have any) Real life, real people flakes. They make me wanna scream, bite, and throw up a little all at the same time. They make me angry. Do they not realize that when they don't keep their word, or bail, or lie that they are not only making themselves look like a fool but they lose all credibility as a person and a friend? I don't think so otherwise they'd change right? They must all just be insane in the membrane.

Wanna know what else sucks harder than a Dyson Ball? Being up all night, cramping from my half exploded cyst, then throwing up all night. Mmmm doesn't get much better than that does it? WRONG! After my ER visit a few days ago I realized I now have a UTI. Sweet. I am now peeing a lovely shade of red/orange. Love it.

Now that I've got some venting outta my injured little system, its time to share little bits from our vaca in Arizona. It was filled with delicious food (Pete's, Thai, Gecko Grill, things only my beloved Valley of the Sun has), lots of fun with family and friends, and some good R&R for sure. It really was exactly what both of us needed. Here are some (tons) of pictures.

All of my nieces and nephews are so beautiful! I couldn't get enough of them. It breaks my heart to think I won't be seeing them for possibly a year. That's too long to think about. I love my family.

You did What!? (Why we chose the Air Force)

When we made our decision to enlist, we got some very mixed reactions to it. I say "we" because it was a joint decision. Yes, Mr. Superman was the one who signed his name on the contract, went to BMT, Tech School, etc etc but we as a couple decided what would be best for us not only in the present but in the long term future.

When people are considering whether or not enlisting would be right for them, or if they think that it may be something they would like to do, it is really important to look at the long term, what you want to do in your life, and especially for those in serious relationships ie marriage, to discuss it with your partner/spouse and make sure that you are both ready and willing for the complete 180 change in lifestyles. The stability in career is fantastic and the opportunities that become open to you are phenomenal but most people don't think about or don't realize the sacrifice necessary.

I can't even count how many people have asked me how long Mr. Superman and I were apart, what we had to do so far, if it's "hard", if we got to choose where to live, how much we make... think of any question YOU may wonder about and it has been asked. For the most part, questions are fine. They are to be expected. Others however, like, "Is it hard?" aggravate me but also make me shake my head at the ignorance. Of course it's difficult! Everything about it is difficult but it makes Mr. Superman happy, he loves it, its something to be proud of... I could go on and on but that isn't the purpose of this post. I will just say that the good outweighs the bad and the hubbs loves it so I am content and happy.

The story behind why Mr. Superman and I chose to enlist and also chose the Air Force over any other branch actually extends back to when Mr. Superman was in high school, before I ever met him. He won't toot his own horn but I'll be more than happy to bragster him up a bit. He is a total genius! He had lots of scholarships and had been accepted to ASU (Arizona State University), U of U (University of Utah), Colorado State, and the ever exclusive USC. He played football and wrestled and as injuries do happen, he ended up with two horrible knees at the end of it and lost the scholarships. He had been fully planning on attending U of U and doing their ROTC program then commissioning as an Officer in the AF. Sweet right?! Yeah well he couldn't pass the physical with two blown out knees.

Fast forward three years. We're married, Mr. Superman has only three semesters left until his BSD, we have 3 jobs between the two of us but no money. We felt like we needed to move to UT. We prayed then moved. After both of us getting new, fantastic, high paying jobs, we were both laid off. *Insert screaming and crying here* Without talking about it we both kept having the Air Force pop into our heads. After a week of no work, we sat down to discuss our options and we both brought it up. Long story short, we went into a recruiting office, got our questions answered, prayed, then enlisted! It was a bit of a whirlwind ride but here we are! So back to basic questions of this post.

Why did we enlist? Well Mr. Superman had always had interest but lost his chance due to sports injuries. We both felt like life was just supposed to happen a little and he's now back on the path that was originally meant for him (us). The fact that he is now loving this career path is a major plus along with the stability in employment, education perks, housing, major network, etc etc.

Why the Air Force? Again, it was Mr. Superman's original interest. Also, it was a huge plus that they would be allowing him to go right back to school. Education opportunities are huge and Mr. Superman finishing his degree is so important to him and to his plans and goals for the Air Force. I guess all in all it was just the best fit for us.

That's all for now lovelies.

Mrs. S's Surprise in the Tummy

Well Mr. Superman and I had a glorious vaca in AZ with no problems or hiccups. It really was wonderful. I'll save the pics for another post but Monday early morning, 2 am'ish, we got a very big surprise regarding something in my tummy.

For those who may be dreamin' bigger than me right now... Its NOT a baby. That would be a "Breaking News" worthy moment on CNN right there. My pain hit me out of nowhere and got worse, worse, then unbearable. After going to my school, getting my textbooks, and making a trip home, I decided it could be something serious so we headed over to South Georgia Med Center. After 2 hours in the waiting room, I was taken back. In the 7 hours after that I was told it was more than likely appendicitis (you know, the appendix I got taken out 8 months ago....), then given ex-rays, blood tests, and then two massive glasses of the nastiest radio-active stuff to drink followed by a ct-scan. It was a BLAST, let me tell you. Well it turns out, I get to keep my super sneaky appendix for the time being but I do have a massive cyst on my right ovary. What is massive? Oh its bigger than my actual ovary. Its extraordinarily painful. Its worse than surgical pain. OWIE. Good thing I've got an incredible husband named Mr. Superman who takes care of laundry and dinner and me.

Okay picture doesn't even do my tum tums justice but it is currently huge.

Hopefully I'll be fine soon and by fine I mean superb because school has begun and I missed my first day.

Its time for a little something different

I have been toying with the idea of having a more "specialized" blog for probably a year now. I by NO means am a specialist of any kind but there are things that I (we) have been through in the last few years that I feel I may have some things to contribute to the blogging world. Right now the only people who read this are friends and family but hopefully if someone needs help with something similar, they can find it here.

I have several identities. I am a woman. I am a daughter. I am a sister. I am an aunt. I am a friend. I have so many things that make me, me but above all, I am a wife. I am an Air Force wife. I am a mommy. I don't have the pitter patter of little feet resounding through my house but I do have two beautiful, glorious little angels up in heaven watching out for me. I like the idea of of chronicling my journey in this somewhat new world, sharing my experiences, and lessons learned and maybe, just maybe I can reach out to someone.

I will be trying to reformat the look of my blog to make it fit the new purpose and will be back soon to start this new journey. Lots of love to all my dear ones.

you know how i got to hobby lobby a lot? well cody almost always indulges me and comes along. this is why i bought him this mentos/diet coke bomb thing. i had never seen it so he made me do the honors. in the video you'll see he was really trying to get me to vomit by having diet coke spray me. i loathe diet coke. it is satan juice. GROSS. we are bringing it to arizona with us because we have dreams of seeing jacob experience the wonder. hopefully amber doesn't see this before we get there. or better yet, hopefully she does so she can show jacob and the excitement can build up.

bedroom before and afters

I wish I had a super nice camera and the knowledge to edit photos to make them look all artsy. Alas, I do not and I cannot so these photos are what you get.

I just love everything about our new bedding. Don't mind the clutter on our chest or anything else you may see around the room. I found a fabulous dark aqua colored velvet pillow that sits in front of the green ones and just ties everything in so great. I'm just too lazy to go take a new picture.

I had been eyeing these lamps for a good three months before I got them. Chic and modern. Love them :)

We have this wicker chest in our room holding some extra blankets but the color had been bugging me so I painted the solid wood black by hand, taped it off, then spray painted the wicker white. I love it so much more now that it coordinates.

Cody built this chest with hooks last year and I loved having a place for our shoes in our entry in Utah but our entry is just not shaped right for it here in GA. It sits in our master bedroom and my purse hangs on it along with our keys. Inside is more storage for our summery things as well as hats and scarves and gloves. It has those two cubbies that I had searched for the perfect baskets to fit into but had had zero luck. Cody comes home and sticks his wallet, base id's, pens, ear plugs, and bits and pieces of his uniform in the cubbies. It had been bugging me so badly. I was at Hobby Lobby last week and found these perfect "antiqued" white baskets for 3 dollars each so I bought them and love them. You can no longer see Cody's jumble of Airman stuff and they go perfect with the chest because that has the antiqued look as well.

I will not even try to go into the story behind the hat boxes. It would take a zillion seconds and words can just not do justice to the absolute fiasco that it was. I had the center one originally for a couple years and eventually found matching ones at Hobby Lobby.

If this were a perfect world my room would be a lot bigger with clean white walls, beautiful wainscoting, and shining hard wood floors. Too bad its not and we're renting this house so I cannot and will not invest money into this house. For now, the mini room makeover is enough.

Cody's Birthday Post

I still don't wanna blog but I owe Cody a birthday post and he thinks blogging is good for me so here I am.

Cody's birthday consisted of me baking cupcakes, taking him lunch and a big batch of those delicious cupcakes to his shop, meeting everyone in his shop (I was flippin' nervous), Cody opening his presents, and going to din din at a delicious bbq joint here called Smoke 'N' Pig (heavenly sweet potato sufle oh my lanta), and then blowing out the candles on his own batch of cupcakes. I told him I'd blog it but I needed his five birthday words. This is what he said, "Delicious, wonderful, relaxing (the weekend was atleast), profitable, and stupendous."
