Kindred Connection #4

Windy Poplars

Hey there Lovelies! The Kindred Connection is back this week.
From Windy Poplars "I hope you'll join along so we can either get to know you better or make a new friend! So grab the button, answer the questions, and link up below (to your KC post) Our theme is:

Food!

To read more about the KC, click HERE

 Questions for the week:

1. What is your favorite ethnicity of food?

MMM Italian. But close seconds are Chinese, Thai, and Mexican. I'm just a food lover.

2. If you could eat only one meal for two weeks straight, what would it be?

If I'm trying to be healthy? Oatmeal. If I'm being normal? Three flavor chicken and Thai toast or any type of pasta with a cream based sauce and cheese. That's honesty right there.

3. What is the "signature" dish that you cook? (you know, that always receives rave reviews and/or you get requests for the recipe - feel free to share the recipe!)

Mr. Superman loves my beef enchiladas (along with my fried Spanish rice and refried bean dip) but I make a mean pot roast too. I'm really good with sauces, marinades, and rubs. My "item" that always gets rave reviews are my chocolate chip cookies and my cupcakes.

4. Is there something that you just can't handle eating - like gag reflex?

Green Beans. N A S T Y. I will save my green bean story for another time but the smell is enough to make me vomit.

5. Do you think that the Kindred Connection should continue through the summer, or take the summer off?

I would love for it to continue! I love it so much and am finally back on track with my blogging. (Kind of)

"Tell your friends about the Connection this week - if we have 20 participants (linkers), I'll put you all into another giveaway drawing!"

Sweet! Anyone up for a Giveaway with no strings other than answering a few fun questions? Um... I am! Go join up ya'll :)

1. If you had a day from this past week that you could "live over" (either to enjoy the good all over again or to change something for the better), which one would it be and why?

Normally I would say no way because I try to get to Thursday afternoon as quickly as possible but there is one thing this week that I wish I could go re-do. There is a girl in my nursing course that I don't really see eye to eye with. I mean she is nice enough but she smokes her way through half a pack in four hours. I hate the smell of cigarette smoke. She swears like a sailor. I mean super bad potty-mouth. She says a lot of negative things about the Military (Air Force) that every one else takes as fact. We just don't mesh. The thing is, she lives two streets down from me. She also rides a motorcycle. Well it was raining on Tuesday. She asked that if in the future, it was supposed to rain, she could get a ride with me. I said yes and gave her my number. When I left class it was pouring rain so hard that in the two seconds it took me to close my umbrella and close my car door, I got soaked. She hadn't finished her exam so she was still in class. By the time I got home I was so mad at myself and felt so horribly guilty that I didn't wait for her, insist we stick her filthy motorcycle in the back of my car, and make sure she got home safe and relatively dry. I wish I could go back and do that.

2. Do you work outside the home? Are you a SAHM? Are you self employed?

I used to. That is, I have worked my entire life. Last year when we hit major road bumps, me+working stopped. Not by choice, TRUST me. I have wanted nothing more than to be a SAHM my entire life but its just not in the cards yet. I WISH I was self-employed. How glorious would that be? I am currently in school to up my chances of being employable because unfortunately, living in a town this small that is 75% military is not conducive to finding a job.

3. What are two blogs that you really love, and why?

Of course I gotta break the rules. I picked four. Shoot me. The first one is because I find her extraordinarily inspiring and she was my very first Military Wife Blog that I started following. Mrs. P. at A Little Pink in a World of Camo. Second is Chelle at It's a Hooah Life. She was one of my first followers, her name is nearly the same as mine, she a little crazy like me, and she's just all out fabulous. Third is Nicole at Flip Flops & Combat Boots. She's gorgeous. She's also a loyal follower/commenter/Giveaway entrant. She crack me up. Really. We both would've gone to the Male Revue. Fourth is Mrs. Ma'am at My Life As a Air Force Wife. She too is a loyal follower/commenter. We also have so many things in common its a little ridiculous. Both got married super young. Both married to an AMMO (IYAAYAS!!) man. Both uber-fantastic. These are four women that I truly do feel a Kindred Connection with and have fallen in love with!

Sorry ladies, you're stuck with me.

Kindred Connection #2

Windy Poplars

Here are the quickie instructions again for those who are new.

*Grab the Party Button
*Answer the questions on your blog
*Link to your post via Mr. Linky at Kindred Connection at Windy-Poplars

Remember if your blog is about "marriage, family, faith, decorating, crafts, travel, gardening, saving money, cooking, homemaking, style, and a dash of everyday life!" then you are a Kindred Blogger!

Here are week #2's questions:

 1. What is your favorite vacation spot?

Ooohh the Mr. and I both love California (Newport, Huntington, Balboa) so so so much but when he got home last year (he had been gone for our 2 year wedding anniversary), he surprised me with an ocean-side room in Panama City Beach, Florida. It was GLORIOUS. We have decided to make it our anniversary tradition for as long as we can.

2. What are the three qualities that you most admire about your husband (or if you're not married what are the three qualities you would most desire in a man)?

Oh choosing only three is so hard! I think by far that Mr. Superman's unconditional love for me (you have NO idea how much he has had to put up with, deal with, take care of on my part) tops the list. I love how hard of a worker he is. Not just in his job as part of the USAF but also how hard he works around the house and taking care of me. He's always going non-stop. Number three will have to be his desire for a baby as much as me. We both were devastated when we got the diagnosis of infertility and he has been so good about holding me together. The fact that his heart is broken too shows me how completely connected we are. Someday we'll have our miracle.

3. What has been a meaningful Bible verse to you this week?

John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." I have to confess, I read this several times a week. Its something that has been helping me since I was 14. Love it.

4. What is your favorite color(or colors) and why?

Hmmmm difficult difficult. Green, black, and pink. I'm huge on color combos thought like black, pink, white, & gray or pink & green, or aqua & pink or aqua & brown. I'm a lover of color.

5. What is the funniest thing that happened to you in the last 24 hours?

I don't know if its been in the last 24 hours because my time blurs but Mr. Superman and I were driving home from running errands and I had an empty bowl and fork (from strawberries I had eaten on the way) sitting in the console next to the cup holders. He turned and the fork flew out and stabbed him in the foot. It wasn't funny but I lost it. I mean LOST it. I have not laughed that hard in over a year. Even funnier was his face when that first laugh flew out of my mouth. He tries so hard to keep a straight face sometimes but he's not very good at it. I know he's struggling when his his nostrils start flaring and he bites his bottom lip to keep from smiling. His whole "serious and angry" facade fell apart. I laughed so hard my stomach hurt. It was fantastic.

Alright lovelies, join the Kindred Connection. It's great!

Kindred Connection

I've seen this on five different blogs I follow so I'm finally giving in even though I am a day late. This is a kindred connection button. If your blog is based on "marriage, faith, family, homemaking, decorating, crafts, cooking, travel, saving money, style, and a little bit of everyday life," then you qualify to join The Kindred Connection. To join just go to Windy Poplars to check it out.

1. If you could describe your desired lifestyle in one word, what would it be?

One word is so difficult. I'm going to have to go with content I suppose. Yes I am happy with the hubbs, and with our life but we are missing babies. We're waiting for our miracle and when we get it, I will then be content and my life will be full and complete.

2. What style of home is your "House of Dreams"?

Mr. Superman says I was born in the wrong era and in the wrong part of the US. I love everything old. I love big, old, historical looking, Victorian style, plantation homes. That is my dream.

3. If you could live in a fictional story/movie, which would it be and why?

I could really get myself into trouble here. I'm going to go with my major obsession by choosing Harry Potter.Yeah, I'm one of those.

4. Do you prefer coffee or tea? Favorite kind?

I don't drink coffee or tea but back in the day I was known to enjoy a wonderful icy chai :)

5. Share the last sweet/romantic thing your hubby did for you.

Everything Mr. Superman does is romantic. Lately its been him giving me back rubs, making dinner, doing laundry, scrubbin the tub so I could bathe, doing the dishes, getting my heating pads.... The list could go on forever. Mr. Superman is always extraordinarily considerate, sweet, romantic, etc etc.
