Day 30- Whatever Tickles My Fancy

Thank the heavens above its over. I'm on my deathbed and if by deathbed you interpret at work miserable, then you're right. So what tickles my fancy? 30 Day Meme being over and this.

It made me smile which right now, is no easy fete.

Hope, Dreams, and Plans For the Next 365 Days (& Wordless Wednesday)

My hopes, dreams, and plans for the next 365 days? Let's see....

6.15.2010

Day 27 & Day 28

Day 27: My Month in Great Detail

Instead of going on and on about how utterly ridiculous this part of the 30 Day Meme is, I shall just proceed.

My month has consisted of finishing up my CNA course, kill me now clinicals, lots of new bloggy friends & followers, a ton of ridiculous pillow talk conversations with Mr. Superman, stress, tears, CREAM SODA, finding a job, starting said job, lots of cramps, getting put on hold when calling to make a bazillion doctor's appointment, CREAM SODA, dvr, dvd's, grocery shopping, cleaning, planning for the future, Skyping with family and friends, pain killers, bubble baths, CREAM SODA, heating pads, work wardrobe woes, amazing alliterations, and I musn't forget 30 day meme!

Day 28: My Year in Great Detail

My year thus far? A twelve month cycle from June to June? What the rest of my year will hold? I'm gonna go with the middle option.

Let's see June '09 to June '10...

Last June found Mr. Superman and I packing up our junk in Utah, going to Vegas for the very first time, and spending a few weeks in Arizona together with family and friends before Mr. Superman left for Air Force BMT for 9 1/2 weeks. He left Arizona the end of June to fly back to Utah which is where he had to fly out of since that is where he enlisted. I had a minor breakdown upon finding myself alone and apart from my love for the first time ever.

Last July I was on sort of bed rest in preparation for my "surgery" which was really three procedures done at once. Mr. Superman was still at BMT and we had had very little contact. I was trying to work out (against doctor's orders, to lose weight), spending every day with my BFF's Brighteyes and Davey, my sister A and her family, swimming, and missing my baby love. I was also back home living in my old bedroom and having my mommy to take care of me.

August found me on the operating table. I had my gall bladder removed, I had a lump removed and tested form my stomach (discovered to be non-cancerous), and my appendix removed. Ha! I recently found out he only took out a portion of my appendix. WTF?! August was also the month of preparation to go see Mr. Superman!! I was on bed rest for three weeks which made it incredibly difficult but I was so excited. I was sick to my stomach with nervousness, anxiety, excitement, awe, just so many different emotions! Brighteyes and I drove 18 something straight hours from Gilbert, AZ to San Antonio, TX. I was reunited with my loverface and it was INCREDIBLE. We all had so much fun together and we met all his buddies from his flight. The few days of reunion had to end and it found me in tears. I made a crazy on the whim decision to go to Wichita Falls, TX to spend some time with Mr. Superman while he was at Tech School.

September and October were hard. Mr. Superman excelled and was Top Grad. Incredible but not surprising. He is a GENIUS. September and October wore on us and things transpired that tore us up and nearly tore us apart. I returned to Arizona to be with my family.

November came and Mr. Superman returned. It was truly the perfect time. It was relief. It was safety returning. We went back to Utah to visit family and wrap up things there. We then drove back from Utah to Arizona, visited for two days then commenced our drive to Georgia. We stopped in Texas for a few hours of sleep and then continued on to our late and surprise anniversary weekend that Mr. Superman had planned, on the beach in Panama City Beach, FL. Other than those two stops, we drove straight through the 2,000 miles. INSANE. We got to Georgia, met Mr. Superman's sponsor, got billeting, met our landlord, signed our rental contract, and began life at our first duty station.

December found us still acclimating and spending the holidays apart from family, friends, and familiarity.

January was my birthday and a month of more surgery. Story of my life. My MIL came in to take care of me for the first week of my two week bed rest.

February (Mr. Superman's birthday month), March, April, May, and June have been spent making Georgia our home, getting to know more people around us, getting more involved with blogging and meeting incredible military spouses, prepping for TDY, finishing school, and like I said in my month post, getting back to work.

Geeze this topic was terrible. Happy Tuesday ya'll!

Day 25 & Day 26

Day 25: My Day in Great Detail

My day in great detail was supposed to be posted yesterday but my internet was down. Besides that my day was rather boring and miserable. We woke up after noon. We had gone to bed at nearly 4 AM so its okay. Its weird being on different sleeping schedules than everyone else. We woke up and I instantly just lay down on the couch with my heating pads. Mr. Superman got me a bowl of cereal and some pain killers. We watched some tv and then he headed to Walmart to get me some cream soda and pick up a few other things. We spent the afternoon cuddling and just soaking up each other. I got to talk to my sister A for a good hour. We hadn't talked in a very long time. I got to talk to three of her kiddies and tell them the exciting news that we'll be there for 10 days in September. I also spoke with my friend Ashley for an hour or so just kind of shootin' the breeze. I got to Skype with my best friend Brighteyes too. It was wonderful to see her beautiful face. We just have way too much fun, even 2,000 miles apart. We wrapped up the evening with a phone call to Mr. Superman's mom then got in bed early this morning.

Day 26: My Week in Great Detail

Dude, feel free to stop reading now. The ONLY reason I'm doing these posts is to prove I can do something and finish it up. I'm almost done!

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday were all the same. Well Monday I had to wake up early for my last day of school. The rest of the week found Mr. Superman and I sleeping in until 12 noon'ish. We both work nights now so I drop him off at base at 2:40 PM, head home, get ready, then go to work myself. This last week I was off at 10 PM, an hour earlier than my normal schedule because its still training. Go home, veg for 20 or so minutes, then head to base to pick my man lover up. We'd come home, I would eat, we'd shower and start some laundry, then watch TV or a movie until 1, 2, or 3 AM then crash. Saturday was already explained above and today hasn't been much different. We made our big Sunday breakfast as usual. Eggs, bacon, and hash browns. I've spent the day purging my Follow list and Google Reader. That is a post in and of itself though.

Happy Sunday!

Day 24- Whatever Tickles My Fancy

I think whoever came up with 30 Day Meme got lazy. These 'whatever tickles my fancy' assignments are no good. I do much better with a designated topic.

I know I mentioned my BFF Brighteyes coming to visit while Mr. Superman is TDY in July. I also know in the past, some of you may have been introduced to her and her craziness. Well I am re-introducing her. This video is kind of old. Don't mind the fact that my hair is scraggly, in a beanie, and the boxes in the back of my car. It had been a long day snatching boxes for our big move to Utah.

Without further adieu, Brighteyes!

Day 23- A YouTube Video

I saw this a while back over at Ashleigh's blog and thought it was too cute! I had then been seeing it all over FB and knew I wanted to post it. Its just so perfect.

Day 22- A Website

I'm a lame-o. I don't even know what to post. I love Etsy (who doesn't?) I am also in love with this fabric website HERE. It is INCREDIBLE. Another one I adore has all sorts of buttons, trims, crystals, and other glorious things. You can find it HERE. There is a brooch store I stumbled upon about 14 months back that is (too expensive for me) but is fabulous nonetheless. You can go check them out HERE.

What are some of your favorite websites?

Day 21- A Recipe

I love baking and cooking but some of my favorite things are delicious muffins! I also love bananas so back when we lived in Utah, I created this delicious recipe for banana crumb muffins. The pictures are from the very first time I made them.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Muffins

* 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 teaspoon baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
* 3 bananas
* 3/4 cup white sugar
* 1 egg
* 1/3 cup melted butter
* 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

Crumb Topping

* 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
* 1 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
* 1 tablespoon cinnamon
* 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
* 1 tablespoon butter

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cooking spray on tin or 12 muffin cups.

2. For muffin batter, mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. In another bowl, beat together bananas, sugar, egg, vanilla, and melted butter. Mix together banana mixture with the dry ingredients. Spoon batter into muffin tin. Fill almost to top. Makes 12 generous muffins.

3. For crumb topping, mix together brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and powdered sugar until well blended. Using a spoon mash in the tablespoon of butter until the entire mixture is moistened and well blended. Takes about 5 minutes. Sprinkle topping over muffins. There may be just a little topping left over. Cover the entire top of each muffin cup so as to fully cover the batter.

4. Bake for 18 minutes. Let cool. Remove muffins by gently twisting them about then lifting.

5. Enjoy!!

Day 20- A Hobby of Mine

Well I like to talk. And Blog.

The End.

Ha! Yeah right! I mean I do like to talk and blog and I suppose blogging is sort of a hobby but I got something better up my sleeve. I like to decorate and re-decorate. I like to create cute new things for my home and finding ways to make things prettier. Mr. Superman insists I throw in one of my main weapons is my hot glue gun. Nice.

One time I had this dream I made my own black leather tufted headboard. So I did it.

I also turned the wicker chest in my bedroom from this

To this

I also painted this

I used these candle jars (after the candle was done of course) to create some decor. Spray paint, scrap-booking supplies, ribbon, and hot glue. It has Love & Family on the other side.

I found hat boxes and saw wall decor.

I'm also good at thrifting. Like finding some fabulous old leather bound and fabric wrapped books ie. The Davinci Code, Where The Sidewalk Ends, and a great Medical Dictionary (I'm a nerd) at $2 a pop!

I have a ton more pictures I could show but I'll wrap it up.

What's one of your hobbies?

6.06.2010

Day 19- A Talent I Have

Well.... I used to dance and I played basketball in high school. I'm a talker which is not to be confused with stalker which I do on blogs. I enjoy writing but I don't know if I'm and good at it. I also am a really good listener. I always feel like helping people and I think there's just something about me that encourages people to open up. I'll keep your secrets forever and give you my shoulder to cry on. That's about it. Kinda boring eh?

6.05.2010

Day 18- Whatever Tickles My Fancy

I was going through some old videos and found this one that my BFF Brighteyes recorded at Mr. Superman's BMT Graduation. We hadn't seen each other in 9 1/2 weeks (our first separation since marriage ever!) and I was a bundle of nerves and emotions. I was also tan, skinny, and had short blond hair. Look how much changes in 10 months! Enjoy!

I had two readers whose pages wouldn't load the video but it is posted on my YouTube. Just in case anyone else is having those issues, you can view it HERE

Day 17 - An Art Piece (Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, etc.)

I love art, I do, but my favorites are usually photos turned paintings or just fabulous photos altogether. I love Scott Mutter. I think his work is incredible.

 I've had this hanging in my room since I was a junior in high school. I was so sad when he died in 2008. His other stuff if great too. You should check him out HERE.

I also really like funky stuff like what Ynon Mabet does. They're photos but the colors just get me.

To look at more of his stuff you can go HERE.

Of course I like all the classic art from Salvador Dali, Leonardo Da Vinci, Claude Monet,  Henri Rousseau, Vincent Van Gogh... I also love Andy Warhol's stuff.

When we finally make it over to Europe, our trip will consist of visiting all the fabulous museums and cathedrals and soaking in all the ART. I love old architecture and am a total sucker for things people may look at as archaic.

What's some of your favorite art?

Day 16- A Song That Makes Me Cry (Or nearly)

Well we all know by now there isn't any such thing as Mrs. S. nearly crying. Its all out, two box of tissues, cry at everything for me. I cry everyday. Whether it be seeing pictures, reading stories, hearing songs, watching videos, or me just being a cry-baby, it happens at least once everyday. See why Mr. Superman is a saint? I couldn't just pick one either. Ignore the fact that most of the videos are lyrics or ridiculously cheesy graphics. I know they are all sappy love songs but I can't help myself.

Right Here Waiting For You: Richard Marx (I have loved this song since I was little but when Mr. Superman and I met, we found out we both loved it.)

(Everything I Do) I do It For You: Bryan Adams (Again, loved it since I was little. This describes us to a Tee)

Then: Brad Paisley (This came out while Mr. Superman was at BMT. I always cried and still do)

Love Me: Colin Raye (This is one of the very first songs I ever learned when I was like 5. I've always loved it.)

Don't Take The Girl: Tim McGraw (Another one I learned at age 5. I wanted to sing it at my elementary talent show but another guy did.)

I'm Already There: Lonestar (Does this one need explanation?)

I have SO many more but I'm going to stop myself.

What's a song that makes you cry?

Day 15- A FanFic

Okay I'm not usually a fan of FanFic but there are some funny ones out there. There are thousands out there about the Twilight saga and my SIL sent me a link to some hilarious illegal foreign Harry Potter spin-offs.

Twilight Saga

Here is the link to a page listing 11 of the most ridiculous HP ones.

Harry Potter

Today's post is kinda boring eh? Sorry Charlie's, I gotta call the clinic to see if I can come in and get some pain meds or if I need to head to the ER. We started a Phase 2 exercise today so a lot of stuff is shut down and that's why Mr. Superman is on 14 hour shifts. My pain dilemna right now is due to ridiculous mouth/wisdom tooth pain. Bad luck is my Tricare dental doesn't kick in until July 1st. Then I'll be really screwed because he'll be gone for a month and I can't very well get my wisdom teeth out while he's gone. Its life I suppose. Right now I use oragel but its to the point it only lasts two minutes before it wears off. Fun fun!

Happy Hump Day ya'll!!

6.01.2010

Day 14- A Non-Fictional Book

I know I mentioned this from Day 4 but when thinking about 'non-fictional' books that have actually touched me and made me think, this was at the forefront of my mind. I just love everything Mitch Albom has to say but this particular book of his is so involved and every point is just driven home. He has phenomenal life experiences and I am so glad he made the decision to share them with the world. He is such a talented writer.

Two of my favorite quotes from the book. The first because, well I'm 22 and even though I joke about never wanting to grow old and being terrified about it, I am looking forward to it. The second because trust is one of the most important things to me.

"As you grow old, you learn more. If you stayed at twenty-two, you'd always be as ignorant as you were at twenty-two. Aging is not just decay, you know. It's growth. It's more than the negative that you're going to die, its also the positive that you understand you're going to die, and that you live a better life because of it."

"You closed your eyes. That was the difference. Sometimes you cannot believe what you see, you have to believe what you feel. And if you are ever going to have other people trust you, you must feel that you can trust them too-even when you are in the dark. Even when you're falling."

What's your favorite non-fictional book?

5.31.2010

Day 13- A Fictional Book

Toughie Toughie! I'm going to go with Where The Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein. I love all of his books. They are so fun and I enjoy them just as much now as I did when I was younger.

The very first poem in the book is The Invitation. I've always felt this poem would be perfect to hang on the door of every church. What beautiful sentiment.

The Invitation

"If you are a dreamer, come in.
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer . . .
If you’re a pretender, come sit by my fire,
For we have some flax golden tales to spin.
Come in!
Come in!”

What's one of your favorite fictional books?

Day 12- Whatever Tickles My Fancy

I think with it being Memorial Day weekend, a tribute to our troops is completely appropriate. I have a few tribute videos that I feel do a great job of driving home all the feelings that accompany the loss of our brave men and women. Then again, I cry at any slightly patriotic song and nearly every time I see photos of our troops. I think that most Americans do not realize the monumental sacrifices that are made every day on their behalf and even though it saddens me, and yes, sometimes angers me, I know there are people who DO understand and appreciate. I am so proud to be married to a man who felt the need to serve. He knows his duty and he loves his job. I am so grateful to live in this country with my life abundantly blessed by the sacrifices made through the centuries. These aren't just for the fallen, but all of our troops. The ones deployed, the ones almost home, and the ones still on the home front. Happy Memorial Day lovelies and God Bless.

Day 11- A Photo of Me, Taken Recently

This ones just kind of boring eh? Just me.... Bleh! 30 Day Meme commands it though, and right now, that is law.

I took this like .5 seconds ago. I don't have any super recent photos you guys haven't already seen. Here's me, after day 2 of kill me clinicals, in my scrubs and after a much needed grocery run.
(Today was pay day!!)

5.28.2010

Day 10- A Photo Taken of Me Over 10 Years Ago

Oh, I almost skipped this one lovelies. Why? I was an awkward looking child. You know how people go through an awkward stage in adolescence? Mine was kinda perma-awkward until I hit 15. Lame. I knew I couldn't skip this post though and figured I'd just put it all out there. Here you go!

This is me with my Grandma (mama's, mom) at one of our summer family reunions.

Here I am with four of my 56 some-odd first cousins on my mama's side at yet another summer family reunion. I'm the tom boy one in green jeans, yellow t-shirt, walking stick, and weeds in hand. Nice.

Me feeding my very first niece a PB&J. If you hadn't guessed I was still a tomboy with the overalls, bandana, and snarly hair. Its a recurring theme I know.

This is me with my sisters first 3 kids on summer in Cali (I used to go stay the summers there with her). I think I was 15 in this pic so its just 7 years old. I finally wear decent clothes, straightened my hair, and wore make-up but was still pale as a ghost. Oh wait, I still am.

I hope ya'll enjoyed my painful trip down memory lane. Happy Friday!!

5.27.2010

Day 9- A Photo That I Took

I've taken thousands of pictures so this was (another) toughie! I know some of you have already been introduced to Aiden. He is my sister's youngest and Mr. Superman and I have a very special bond with him. We love all 12 of our nieces and nephews but from the time Aiden was just 8 hours old, we've been there. He is especially fond of Mr. Superman. He's just the cutest little boy ever. We miss him so so so much! These aren't even like .05% of the pictures I've taken of him but some of my favorites.

Okay, I didn't take this one but I love it so I had to throw it in here.

I just can't get enough of his smile and big blue eyes!
