Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-in #2

Now for the weekly Mil-Spouse Fill In, head over to Wife of a Sailor's blog to get the questions and then link up.

Were you named after anyone?

No I wasn't. I remember my mom once telling me something about wanting to name me Crystal but my dad didn't like it.

What color, if any, are your toenails usually painted?

It changes really often but they are ALWAYS painted. Currently they are a very pretty shade of bronze for fall but I am getting a pedicure today.

How do you flush a public toilet? Hands? Feet? Something else?

Well when its not the automatic flushing, yes, I use my feet.

When you were a little kid, which TV character did you have a crush on?

Oh man I watched Batman, Superman, and Spiderman EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. Even though I married Mr. Superman, I have no shame in saying that I was smitten with Batman. He still is my very favorite fictional superhero. Christian Bale does nothing to hinder my twitterpated heart.

Let’s say you had to lose one of your five senses (sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell).  Which one would you choose? Why?

Without a doubt I know I'd be okay without smell. I have the strongest sense of smell of anyone I have ever met. I get more easily nauseated than a pregnant woman and we all know I'm not knocked up. As much as I'd miss sniffing my brains out at Bath and Body Works like an experimental teen huffer, throwing up because of and bugging my husband with this innately hyper-sensitive sniffer is something I'd be okay with giving up.

Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-in #20 & Mil-Spouse Weekly Round-Up

It's meme time. Yay! Be sure to head to Wife of a Sailor's blog for the Friday Fill-In and to Devil Dog Darling's blog for the Mil-Spouse Weekly Round-up

1. A different twist on last week’s question. This week, the first question is: what’s the nicest thing a MILSPOUSE has ever done for you?

I have a hard time picking just one. I can't tell you how many MilSpouse readers I have had help me out in one way or another. I had one Mil Lovely send me a beautiful custom handmade infertility and infant loss awareness bracelet the other day. Some people's kindness astounds me.

2. How often do you drive faster than the speed limit?

Well I got two tickets under the age of 18 and the points on my license made it to where I couldn't get another ticket until after I was 22 or I'd lose my license for 18 months (AZ is strict!) so rarely. I have gotten into the habit of setting my cruise control even if its only at 30 MPH. I think my exception is when I am driving cross country I'll set it to maybe 5-10 over the posted speed limit.

3. Did you have a nickname in school? If so, what was it?

Shelly, Shelly Belly, Chelle, Chelle Belle, Sis, Sister Sue...

4. If your life was a book, what would the title be and how would it end?

Up to now??? Man I don't know. I have moments where I think about the stuff going on right now and I just think about how messy things are but then I have single, glorious moments where I reflect on a smile or a kiss from Mr. Superman and I get all rainbows and unicorns happy. So, I don't know. I also don't know how it will end.

5. Look back (in your planner if you have one) to September 14th… what did you do that day?

I was in the process of finishing packing up my house in GA alongside Mr. Superman and my MIL. We were trying our hardest to enjoy every moment and soak up each other.

MilSpouse Friday Fill In

Make sure ya'll go check out Wife of a Sailor and read up on all the other MilSpouses!

1. What is your spouse’s best feature?

I adore his crystal blue eyes. They are so pretty. I also love his lips and his hands.

2. Mild, Medium or Hot sauce?

I have the worst heartburn in the world. It surpasses pregnant chicks and old people. I promise. Bad thing is I love anything and everything spicy. I add red pepper to eggs and cajun spices to alfredo sauce. Its usually medium if I make food but Hot if its Mr. Superman.

3. What is the worst uniform you had to wear for a job?

My nasty Sonic uniform. No matter how much I washed it it smelled of grease and cheese and grease. I only got paid 5.15 and hour too so it made it even more awful.

4. You have invisible powers… where is the first place you would go?

I know its wrong but I would go to a big bank and take money from the mob so we could pay off our medical debt so we could finally move forward to finally having babies (read: adoption).

5. What’s left on your “to do” list for this summer?

We're working like crazy on the AECP and trying to find ways for me to make a little extra money. We also have the very real possibility of our first D day looming over us so... Lose weight and relax with my babe as much as possible.

1. Besides the horizontal mambo, what do you miss most when your spouse is deployed?

We are newbies. Just barely hit our year mark in the USAF so deployment hasn't happened for us yet. I do know that for the four months he was gone for BMT and Tech School I missed just about everything. I missed him being able to hold me at night, watch movies with me, getting my toothbrush ready for me, go to my doctor's appointments and holding my hand after surgery... I could go on forever.

2. What do you miss least?

He doesn't do anything that drives me crazy enough to not miss any part of him.

3. You only get three crayons to finish your picture… which three do you choose and why?

I would choose blue (because it can be the sky, ocean, clouds, etc), green (because its grass, trees, flowers, everything alive, etc), and yellow (because it can be sunshine, happiness, and smiles).

4. If you could have your own fragrance, what would it be called?

Man I'm with Wife of a Sailor. "I would call it Summer Lovin’. It would be a mixture of orange blossoms, amber, orchid and some more citrus like honeydew."

5. If the shoes make the man (or woman), what do your shoes say about you right now?

I am currently not wearing shoes. It means I just woke up and am blogging while my man cuddles on the couch next to me. I do plan on wearing flip flops though which say, "Man that lucky yatch is going to the pool with her BFF!"

MilSpouse Friday Fill In

I wanna preface this by saying WELCOME to all my new bloggy friends and followers. There are a few of you that haven't introduced yourselves. Don't be shy!! Speak up so I can come by and follow you too.

Wife of a Sailor started this oh so fab meme for Mil Spouses (significant others). To join in go check her out!!

1. What is your favorite household chore?

I love organizing and vacuuming. I enjoy most cleaning even if I put it off like crazy.

2. What is your favorite childhood memory?

I have way too many!! I love the memories I have with my sister A. She is 10 years older but my only sister. We have a lot of crazy, ridiculous, silly stories. She is one of my best friends now.

3. What is your most embarrassing moment?

I always say if I got embarrassed easily I couldn't go outside. I do some stupid ditzy things quite a bit. I can't really think of anything.

4. What uniform of your spouse’s is your favorite?

Well AF only has two (three if you count the jumpsuits). We've talked about this before and we think the AF uniforms are pathetic. I think he is incredibly sexy in uniform but with ABU sleeves rolled up is super "ooh la la" for me. I also love him in Dress Blues but they are so uncomfortable and there is never cause for him to wear them.

5. What canceled TV show do you miss the most?

Man I don't know. Do you remember that show Dinosaurs? I also grew up watching The Brady Bunch, I Love Lucy, Andy Griffith, Rescue 911, and the original On Saturday Morning cartoons. I adored Boy Meets World (my cousins wife was the main make-up artist from day one), Family Matters, and Full House.

MilSpouse Friday Fill In

I ran across this fabulous new weekly meme over at Riding the Rollercoaster's blog (check her out she is amazing!) and got it from the creator Wife of a Sailor. Seriously great idea! Fill in your answers then head back over to Wife of a Sailor's page to link up and discover even more fantastic MilSpouses (and significant others!)

1. How did you and your spouse/significant other meet?

This is a LONG story but if you want to read my shortshort version, go HERE. Its answered in my Dear Mrs. S. page. Let's just say I was a bit of a hooker lady (Mr. Superman says dirty pirate hooker) and was dating his roommate. I use the term dating loosely but yeah... I'll just leave it at that.

2. What is the best thing about being a MilSpouse?

The support! Seriously the support group I have surrounded myself with is PHENOMENAL! Not to mention being married to a man who serves selflessly to protect our country and those unable to protect themselves makes me incredibly proud.

3. What is the hardest thing about being a MilSpouse?

The loneliness. The heartbreaking silence and overwhelming sense of "alone".

4. What is your favorite dish?

Oh man anything Italian. Cheesey, pasta-y, sauce-y dishes with way too many carbs feed my soul. I also LOVE guacamole and some good Mexican food as well as Asian and Thai!

5. If you could change one thing in this world, what would it be?

Hypocrisy. I think a vast majority of the worlds issues would be resolved if there was no hypocrisy. No hatred, no judgments, no war... Think of the possibilities.
