The Mil-Spouse Weekly Round Up #1

Hey ya'll!
I am so stoked its Friday. Seriously.
It is also the kick off of a great new meme called
The Mil-Spouse Weekly Round Up
Riding the Roller Coaster had this fabulous idea last week about doing this Friday link up for Military Spouses/SO's and sharing our favorite post from the week. We are all busy and have lives outside of blogging so this is a great way to guarantee that we are all able to visit each others blogs at least once a week.

Instead of sharing my favorite post in the link up it'll be this one which is a sort of smattering of odds and ends.

If you are new to my blog, get comfy and go visit some of our pages. Its a great way to get to know us.

I have also had some absolutely fabulous Guest Bloggers recently so get caught up with them as well!

My current giveaway ends September 11th at noon EST so if you haven't entered that yet, get on it!

I posted my very first video blog or vlog if you will yesterday so if you wanna see me all awkward, take a gander!

And lastly, I wanted to share our incredible pre-deployment photos.
I know a good chunk of you have seen these on Facebook but I just had to share them on here too!
Our photographer was phenomenal and extraordinarily generous with her time, talent, and services.
Even though it was raining, and we were drenched from sweat, we had a blast and all of the photos turned out perfect.
The gnats were annoying but the fabulous photo op with the moving train made up for it and the fact that she totally got us and was able to make Mr. Superman smile a genuine smile, made me love her all the more.
Be sure to check out Jacquelynn's portrait blog, website, and Facebook page!!
And to Jacquelynn, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have no idea how much this meant to us. Thank you!!

Happy Friday!
If you're part of this military blogging community, head over to Riding the Roller Coaster's fabulous blog to link up your favorite post of the week!

Meet the Ladies!

The One Without A Title

Here's a smattering of my thoughts, feelings, and apologies. I know I've been given awards and have been tagged several times and I do apologize for the lack of acknowledgment and follow through, I just can't summon the energy. I also have been reading blogs, just not commenting because that too takes time and energy. I have received little gifts, cards, emails, letters, texts, and shout outs from so many friends and readers. I am by no means ungrateful it just all comes back to my zero energy and follow through. Thank you everyone for thoughts, kinds words, prayers, and just everything. We had another incident hiccup curve ball thing happen yesterday that has thrown us both for a loop and its making this deployment about a million times harder for both of us. We're trying desperately to find the silver lining but I think its going to come down to pretending or using a crayon. Now its time to wrap up my ever so formal ramblings and let these other somethings do the rest of revealing on behalf of my clogged brain.

This is the one that explains my thoughts and emotions roller coaster. ALL over the place.

From Civi to Millie

This was the post that Mrs. Gambizzle featured as a part of her fabulous

For those who missed it, here it is!

I was asked by Mrs. Gambizzle forever ago to do a post. She suggested I do a post about transitioning from civilian life to military life and I thought, “Oh, easy!” What am I thinking now? “Um, what was I thinking?!” I have also had more than a month to do this post and now I’m sitting here, nearly hyperventilating because not only do I adore her blog and I want to do it, along with all her other guest bloggers justice, but I am so stinkin’ new to the military life that I just don’t feel qualified. I also don’t think that the civilian to military or civi to millie transition is ever complete. There is always a new roadblock to get around, there is always a new burden to carry, there is always a new situation to navigate, there are always new orders, more deployments, new neighbors, new plans, oh scratch those plans, lets try something else…. There is always SOMETHING.

Mr. Superman and I had been married for a little over a year when we started getting feelings and promptings that we needed to look into the Air Force. It wasn’t the first time or even the second but all the other times, it just never felt right. We had recently moved to Utah and both gotten great jobs. A few weeks later, we both got laid off. We prayed and went to talk to a recruiter. He took the ASVAB, blew them all away with his score, and signed papers about a week and a half later. Making the announcement, jumping through hoops, not having things work out the first time, waiting, and finally getting in gave us our first tastes of the unknown, the frustration, the waiting and everything else that comes along with this military world. Shortly after everything was official and we were awaiting his leave dates is when we lost our Angel Baby #2. I was seriously terrified he was going to have to leave before I was healed, recovered, and okay

While Mr. Superman was at BMT we hit a few roadblocks. I had to have surgery which was no cakewalk without having my husband by my side. We also weren't one of those lucky couples who got a lot of phone calls and such. We had four phone calls over 9 weeks, two of which were less than two minutes. I would go weeks without letters and for someone brand new to the military life, living in a completely civilian world with no support system of fellow millies, it was really hard on me. Attending his BMT Graduation and spending time with him was absolutely incredible and one of my proudest moments. We had an incident that was semi Air Force related in October of last year that tested us as individuals and as a couple. It nearly broke us but we came out stronger and I daresay, better for it. We were assigned to our first duty station and arrived 2,000 miles away from everyone and everything we knew and loved in November 2009 and started our new life.

Its been hard. Its been lonely. Its been aggravating, frustrating, and at times, down right depressing but you know what? Its been incredible. I have been doing this for and because of my husband. We are now in a new transition period. The transition of pre-deployment. It was unexpected and the way its come about has been a bit unfair but it is all a part of this life. This unpredictable, roller coaster ride of a life that we chose. Sure its tough. It is also so worth it. I'm already looking forward to our next transition. Next year, when I get to welcome my lovebug home from Afghanistan and we get to fall in love with each other all over again will be a fabulous time. It will be a uncharted waters and I'm prepared to get annoyed and overwhelmed but its a transition that will be amazing.

It Happened.

Wow
That's all I can say.
That's all I could say.
Mr. Superman just let me know that he was finally given a specific date and time.
I had a million and one things rush through my head and I currently have this overwhelming feeling of needing to throw up but all that came out was, "Wow."
His response? "Yep."

We are incredibly eloquent I know.

I'm trying.

One of Those Military Wife Lessons

Hey ya'll! I'm pretty freaking stoked because I have The Mrs. posting today. I just love this girl. She's one of those real life friends as well as a BB. She's fabulous as is her blog. She tells it like it is and we have very similar personalities. Keep in mind that this is a post from  her own experience and she's not lumping all young military wives together. This is about a very special group we have dubbed The Drama Llamas. Enjoy!

"I'm sure most of the people reading this are wives. I'm not sayin' there aren't military husbands, but let's be real.. they are few and far between and I'm sure most of them don't blog in their down time. Anyway, with us all being women we all know the drama that surrounds us in life. (We all know it does, don't try and act like your life has been 100% drama free). If you're like me, you want to be accepted, especially in this crazy military life. Most of us got thrown into this lifestyle not knowing a damn thing. So what do we do? We find other women that are in the same position and try and be friends. If you moved with your husband during tech school/AIT I'm sure you know exactly where I'm going with this.

We find ourselves trusting people extremely fast and deeply. We feel that we have some sort of common ground so these people are alright.. right? WRONG! These (usually young, immature) wives are just like they were the year previously in High School. These women (girls) aren't ready to be ripped away from mommy and daddy and definitely not ready to budget, grocery shop, cook, clean or even have normal adult friendships. Above all they just aren't ready to be wives. (Especially wives that send their husband off to war.)

Part of me blames movies for this. I feel like movies make marriage to be a wonderfully easy cakewalk and well as you probably know it's far, far from.

Now I met the wonderful Mrs. S. while our husbands were in Tech School. Along with her I also met two other.. um.. girls. One became my roommate and the other one was Mrs. S. (Now looking back we should have switched and everything would have been perfect.) It became a clusterf*ck very, very fast. Between the other two girls there was infidelity, pregnancies, lying, abuse and DRAMA. Everywhere they went it was drama. When you're already sucked in there isn't much you can do.

So what do you do when you're surrounded by the typical young military wife? RUN! Run fast and far away. Haha, just kidding. They aren't all bad, but just be careful. Now, on the other hand, I've met some absolute awesome military wives. The kind of wives I thought everyone would be. The ones where I could call day or night and know they'd be here for me.

It's difficult to make friends in general, but when you throw the stress of deployments and moving around every 2-3 years in the mix most civilians just don't understand. That's why it is SO important to make military friends, but watch out because some are just flat our CRAZY!"

A Semi Wordless Wednesday

I have to keep reminding myself that I am a survivor. That its going to take time. That one day, I will be okay but its fine normal if its not today, tomorrow, or the next day, just that it will be someday.
