Stoves & Spouses

Soldier's Lady from No Model Lady is seriously fantastic. She is gorgeous, funny, and a great writer! The fact that we both have a love for canary diamonds just makes it so much better. This is her first post from her old blog and I was so excited when she wanted to use this as her guest post. Its the perfect comparison.

"I recently had a friend ask me how I feel during my husband’s long and frequent absences. I’ve had some time to mull it over & I’ve decided the best way to explain it would be through my stove. Have you ever gone on a road trip, only to ask yourself 2 hours into the drive if you remembered to turn the stove off? You made breakfast this morning, and though you’ve never forgotten before, you can’t conjure the memory of turning it off. You don’t turn around because you’ve gone too far; but the worry lingers in your head and nags at you the entire trip. You can’t fully enjoy anything with this quiet alarm in your head telling you that something isn’t right.

That is as close to the feeling I have when my husband is away. I go on with life, my routine remains the same. Maybe I even go out with friends or visit my family. I have fun and I laugh, but the truth remains that I am not enjoying anything as I would were my husband home. That nagging sensation that something is wrong follows me around for the weeks or months I go without him. Then, just as you come home to find the stove off and your house intact; he comes home again and life is good."

I'm visiting you from "Life As A Cajun Bombshell". I loved this post, my fiance and I are in the process of moving, and in the process of doing so, we're going to be apart for a very long time (6 months, maybe more!). I'm following your blog now, and looking forward to any advice you can give on how to survive being apart from the love of your life...

That is a really good analogy. There's always something there, in the back of your mind, that's preventing you from really letting loose. There's always a little piece of yourself missing. Great answer!
