MilSpouse Blog Hop

I'm sorry I didn't do my Thursday Five yesterday. I also missed Kindred Connection but this week was just a very off week. I'm also not doing my normal BLOG LINK PARTY but am opting to go with a MilSpouse one. It sounded like fun okay? I found it over at

Chelle's, or A Muddy Paw's, or It's a Hooah Life

Yes, she is all one person. She found it from

Julie the Army wife at Riding the Roller Coaster

who happens to be hosting this glorious bit of Friday fun. To join up and read the rules go check it out for yourself.

My name is Mrs. S. It's not my real name but it's what Mr. Superman decided to call me. Mr. Superman is my hub-a-lub. We met in a trailer park after his roommate (whom I was dating) introduced us. After weeks of woo'ing (on my part), I convinced him to come be my loverface and we've been inseparable and madly in love ever since. He's tall, skinny, and bald but I like it that way. He pretends to be embarrassed about being bald at 22 but I kindly remind him that him with hair, was never a good thing. I am tall, roundish bodaciously curvy, and we won't even go into MY hair because it'd take a few years.

Mr. Superman is active duty in the United States Air Force and loves it. He is an AMMO man currently but has high aspirations of being a Captain before retirement. He's quite literally a genius. He can solve any problem placed in front of him without so much as breaking a sweat. I'm a major word nerd. As my hub-a-lub so kindly pointed out the other day when I was disputing this fact, "People call you from 2,000 miles away for help on their college English assignments." Okay I'll claim it, fine. He enjoys football, dirtbikes, Mythbusters, heat, and cars. I like basketball, pursesclothesshoes, cold, blogging, and cars. For the most part we are complete opposites but we like it that way. It makes things more interesting.

We are parents to two beautiful angel babies that we dream of meeting one day but for now are holding onto our hopes of being adoptive parents. Mr. Superman is a very easy-going, go with the flow, chillaxin' kind of dude. I am a plan it all out, there is a certain way to do it, OCD cleaning queen. We are so grateful and proud to be a part of the blessing and honor that is the Military Family and try to show that to others. We've been taken from the Wild West and transplanted into the Dirty South. Its taking some getting used to but we're doing it our way. We are two crazy 22 year old kids making our way through life, come what may and love it. We are Mr. Superman & Mrs. S.

What the Censoring Fatty?!

I have a question for you guys. What do you think about Blog Censorship? Do you guys feel like you can be 100 percent upfront, open, and in your face with your blogs or do you edit out things you really do want to say but don't want to offend people or what not? I know that was a major run on question but really, what do you think?

In the past I have not edited anything to make things easy for someone else because this is MY blog.  This is where I vent and journal and feel like I can be me without having to apologize. I have however, toned down the politics quite a bit and I try to be a little more mellow.

Lately, I have been getting numerous anonymous posters talking lots of shiznit about Mr. Superman, his being in the military, my talk of my infertility, and really negative and oft times derogatory comments. Most I don't publish and I don't dignify them with a response but what about you guys? What do you do?

I think that in my Answer post from the Q&A I will answer every question and comment I have gotten just so I can have piece of mind about these idiots. The way I see it is if you want to be a jerk and be completely negative, have the gumption and balls to do so without hiding. Really? You want to talk badly about me and about my life but you aren't brave enough to do it straight forward? Step up for real.

Alright now that that's out there, here is what's been weighing on my mind lately. Ha ha well more like weighing all over me. My weight. I have always been really self conscious and super self critical. Since meeting Mr. Superman, I've felt better about myself and my self perception has improved a bit. There have been a few times where I all of the sudden will gain weight without any changes in my diet or exercise. Usually when I notice, I'll up my activity level and I will drop back down to my normal weight. Now in the last year, I have had a few operations, went through something extremely personal that tore me apart,  have moved 2,000 miles away, started school, and am trying desperately to balance life. A little stress weight is to be expected I think but this is insane.

I am at my ALL TIME HEAVIEST and it has been a huge downer for me. I thought it would be like every other time I lose weight. NEGATORY GOOD BUDDY. I have cut out soda, tried to have smaller portions, drink lots of water, and have worked out for at least an hour every day for the last 2.5 weeks. Guess what? I haven't even lost half a pound. Its getting under my skin so bad. There have been other times I thought I was chunky but I see pictures from then and I just wanna cry because I was so skinny and fit and had a great body. Needless to say I have had a major wake up call and once I get back to my healthy weight, I will be content. Once I am back to my healthy weight, I won't be saying I'm fat because I now realize I wasn't. I guess all I can do is keep working out everyday and pray it starts working soon 'cause 25 el bees is A LOT.

This is me now

This is what I want so desperately to be again.

(Mr. Superman taking a creeper shot)

Thanks for letting me whine a bit. You guys are the best. Happy Thursday! (The beginning of my weekend, yes Sweet Mary!!)

Shout Out & Giveaway Deets!

First off I have been a COMPLETE lame-oooh and forgot to give a major shout out to my girl ASHLEIGH over at

I found her like two weeks ago and she is fantastic! Lucky for me the first winner of her giveaway never responded to her and I won the second time around! What?! Mrs. S. won something? Can pigs fly now too? Seriously though, I canNOT even convey to you how excited and shocked I was/am. The only thing I've ever won was a "Pyro Award" my Sophomore year in HS in front of the whole school. Yeah, I got an award for starting my Earth Science classroom on fire.

Secondly is that I think a few of you haven't read the Giveaway rules thoroughly. Some of you have let me know you follow me on twitter thinking you get one entry but unless you have asked me the minimum amount of questions, which is TWO, you don't qualify.

To read the complete rules of the Giveaway, go HERE

To get to the original question post, go HERE

Remember, you can also Tweet about it with my handle once a day. The more questions you ask, the more entries you get. Only 11 more followers to go then the Giveaway closes. Someone actually suggested I make ya'll wait until I have 100 followers. I really like that idea but you guys let me know. If you are too excited to wait, show me by getting more involved!

I'll have a real post later but right now I gotta grab some food so I can be ready to workout in two hours.

Calling All Followers

Okay first off let me say holy batman! to the fact that I have 59 followers. That is insane. I love it. Every time I see the numbers have gone up I get SO giddy and have to tell Mr. Superman. Secondly, I have been wanting to do something to get to know all of you better and to feel like you guys knew me in return. I know a few of you have already asked me your questions on my Q&A post but I refuse to answer only a FEW questions. I have come up with a little plan to entice you all to come out of the secret follower woodwork and let me see your blog personality.

The Q&A will close once I have 75 followers. When I get 75 followers I will also close the fabulous giveaway that is opening today. Did you get all that?

Mrs. S. is having a giveaway!!

To qualify for this giveaway you have to ask me a MINIMUM of two questions ON my
Q&A Post

I have gotten emails from people that were too iffy on whether or not a question was too personal or too much of a "going there" question. I've said it before and I'll say it again that I don't get offended. I am by nature a very curious and yes, sometimes nosy person so I understand wanting to know a little sump'in sump'in from someone. My religion, marriage, past, future, hopes, dreams, surgeries, infertility, hair, house, hobbies, ANYTHING, is open for questions. Get creative, get curious, and get asking!

CHANCES TO WIN

Two questions will get you one entry.
If you start following me on twitter you get another entry.
If you tweet about it using my handle, you get another entry.
If you ask me another two questions, you get another entry.
If you give me a shameless shout out and link up on your blog, you get TWO more entries.
If I get another follower (or however many) that leaves me a comment saying they saw me on YOUR page, you get another entry.

RULES

If you already follow me on twitter, make sure to still leave a comment and let me know.
If you ask three questions, you still only get one entry.
You may tweet about this, with my handle, once a day. Every tweet is another chance.  (Be sure to let me know, every time you tweet)
Questions from Anonymous posters will not be counted BUT I will answer them.

See how easy this is? You could have so many wonderful chances to win!

Now to be sure that everything you are doing is kept track of, leave a separate comment for each thing you do either on this post or the Q&A. Obviously your questions will be kept track of easily on the Q&A but the twitter or the shameless shout outs can be left on here and I will be sure to keep very close track of everything.

That's it! Easy peasy pumpkin pleasy huh? Ya'll have until 16 more people decide to follow me :) I will announce the prizes by the end of this week. I may have a first and second place but I haven't decided. There will probably be three different prizes to choose from so when it gets closer you can be thinking about which one you would choose. Thanks guys! You are all seriously the best :)

What IF??

I saw this and after convincing myself I needed to watch it regardless of my fear, I watched it. Four times. I cried and I still have chills. The world is full of what if's but for those of us who suffer from it, IF is more than a question, its a state of being, a disease, and a massive hurdle we must get over even if we fall. IF: InFertility. Watch this and share it. It's beautiful AND heart-wrenching.

Stroll Down Memory Lane

Okay, I was a little super eccentric when I was younger. So much so that I wrote a "Dear Future Hubby" letter when I was 15. I wrote several before that but my 15 year old self actually had the piece of mind to save this letter and put it into a notebook not to be discovered again until 2010. Yeah. I found it, still sealed of course, about died, then gave it to Mr. Superman to open. For some inexplicable reason, there were two Dove Chocolate wrappers inside... oh yeah and the letter was signed with my pink, glittery, lip-gloss smothered lips. True Story.

"Hey Lover!
Well here we are, married. I am so glad I met you. I am in Seminary right now. (Present day Mrs. S here, Seminary was my elective religion class in high school) I am 15 years old and it is 4/07/03. You are my #1 reason to live. At least, I'm assuming so. You're hot... I hope so. I'm really shallow, hopefully I'll change. I love you so much and my dad was just kidding, he really does like you.  ♥Always,
              Your wife, Rachelle"

Ummm wow. Let me just clarify any thoughts you may be having about my 15 year old self. I was indeed extremely shallow. Ha, at least I was being honest. I really was though. Exhibit A: I was at a dance once and a cute guy asked me to dance. We danced 3 or 4 times and I was crushing hard. At the end, I saw him in the light and he was cute.... except the fact that he had a lazy eye. I almost threw up, made an excuse about having to leave, and got gone fast. Also, I did change. I'm not shallow anymore. I got so lucky with Mr. Superman. He saved me and he is incredibly, absolutely, and extraordinarily, in love with ME. Good thing he didn't meet me until I was 18. I was a little less eccentric and had appreciation for some more important things than "hotness" although I did score big on that front too. I laughed so hard when I read the dad comment. Like almost fell off my couch hard.

I hope you all still love me now that you know about my eccentricity and past shallowness. (BTW, this letter doesn't even begin to scratch the surface.) Happy Tuesday!

Not Me!!

I've been seeing these on one of my blog friends (A Muddy Paw)'s blog every Monday and I love reading them but never feel like my life is interesting enough to share my very own "Not Me Monday" I'm gonna give it a try. To join in the fun and make yourself feel better, go read everyone else's over at  MckMama's.

This week I most certainly did not have multiple breakdowns over fuzzies and wrinkly pillows on my couch. That would be so trivial. I definitely didn't make Mr. Superman go sit on the couch in the office so the sectional in the living room could stay smooth and fuzz free. That would be something some crazy OCD person would do, not me.

I for sure didn't have a very serious discussion with Mr. Superman about the competition between tacos and burritos and their differing "classiness" levels. I didn't argue with him for 30 minutes insisting that tacos are indeed way classier and so much better than those gross rolled up things called burritos. No way. That's something someone in junior high would do, not me.

I definitely didn't wake Mr. Superman from his slumber Thursday night. I didn't nudge him, then poke him, then shake him awake. When he raised his head in irritation questioning, "What?" I didn't proceed to respond with, "Wake up booger" then roll back over as if nothing had happened. I didn't because nothing did happen. I don't walk or talk in my sleep. Only weirdies do that, not me.

Early on Saturday morning, I didn't yell out, start crying, or pee my pants a little when thunder and lightning decided to creep up and strike a tree in our backyard. That would be a little dramatic right? I didn't make Mr. Superman hold me until I stopped crying and fell back asleep. That is something a six year old would do, not me.

I'm so glad none of these things happened, that would be so embarrassing.

Mr. Superman is The Cure

No, not the band. For those who know me IRL, you know all about my female issues. All about how my periods confined me to my house for 12 days, leaving me passing out and vomiting. Yeah those female issues. I have tried every single remedy, trick, suggestion, pain killers, dr's advice known to man and nothing ever fixed them. After getting the "you can't have a baby" news, I decided it was time to go back to school. For me to go to school, I needed to be able to leave my house so I tried the one thing I hadn't tried. I got an IUD. I know it has the few months where your body is transitioning, blah blah blah. My dr. said since I had never carried to term and given birth it was going to be a much more painful, harder transition for my body. Its been fine I guess. I mean yeah I have cramps every day but its okay. Let me just tell you that right now, I AM DYING. Thank heavens for Mr. Superman who noticed how badly I am hurting. He scrubbed out the tub and just left to get me some ice cream. Amazing yes? So I'm off to hopefully survive my cramps and have a good weekend with my (Air)man. I hope ya'll have a great weekend and if you don't see me before the end, you will see me Monday.

Why Yes, I am a Twi-hard

I know. Lame. I fell in love with the books, I love Stephenie Meyer (she's a Mormon from AZ too), and even though the first movie was RIDICULOUSLY cheesy, I have seen the second and I am excited for the third. Yes, I am a Twi-hard. Or is it Twi-tard? Oh well, either way, I'm pathetic enough that this gave me chills. Don't hate.

Fabulous Thursday Five!!

I am a total sucker for these games. I found this one over at Flip Flops & Combat Boots and she found it at Mannland 5 which is where you can go if you want to come join the fun :) Its really simple. You just need to share five things that have made you

Happy

Giddy

Grateful

Joyful

Gleeful

or all of the above

Then just head back to Mannland to link up and share your five. Easy right? I am doing it because I've had a rough day so far. Just feeling off and my emotions are getting the best of me. Hopefully doing this will make me happy. Here are my five.

1. Every morning when I have school, Mr. Superman wakes us up and while he's getting all uniformed up and I'm getting dressed, he takes the time to go get me some aleve, toast me a strawberry poptart, and a glass of milk. It always makes me happy and I am so grateful for the little things.

2. I am getting super giddy that its almost time for me to get dressed, head to base, and pick up my man! I'm needing a hug today and I am really excited to see his face in an hour and a half.

3.  I am grateful that I can work out for free on base and so happy Mr. Superman has kept me going and been really supportive. Thinking about getting healthier and losing weight makes me gleeful.

4. Thinking about it being Earth Day today makes me so grateful that I live in such a beautiful place and that God trusted me enough to put me here. Seeing all of the green, the gorgeous flowers, and the pretty blue sky makes me Happy, Giddy, Gleeful, and, Joyful.

5. Since it is Thursday, it's the beginning of my weekend. It means the Mr. only has one more day of work and then we get 2 entire days together. Being with him and seeing him makes me giddy like a school girl. He still gives me butterflies and that makes me happy

♥ Mrs. S.

Oh No!!! (Mrs. S's First Q&A)

I am so sad! I missed my 200th post! Geeeeze. Legit blogger fail. EPIC legit blogger fail. I think this is like my 206th or something. I was wanting to do something fun like a Q&A session but am super apprehensive about feeling like a lame-o when I get no questions asked. What do you think? Shall I proceed and place my blogger pride on the line? Okay you've convinced me.

I will be accepting questions from all you lovelies for the next few days.... ha or until I get enough to not look like a complete blogging loser. Rules are that there are no rules. Anything goes and I promise I will answer everything with 100% honesty. Feel free to post shameless shout outs and link backs to this post to help me feel more loved and to diminish my fear of experiencing yet another epic legit blogger failure. So if you are curious about what makes Mrs. S. tick, what makes her love, laugh, cry, her dreams, her fears, her embarrassing perfectly graceful moments, then join in the fun that is

Mrs. S's First Q&A!!

Alright, ending the use of third person speech now.

Thanks lovelies. You all are seriously the best!

Prepping for Air Force BMT (How To Get You BOTH Out Alive)

Now keep in mind that as always, these are my opinions, thoughts, and tips which I derived from my own and Mr. Superman's (the person who actually went through BMT) experiences.

Now that you and your man (or woman) have made the decision to enlist and have probably already made several trips to MEPS, gotten your ASVAB score tucked safely under your belt, and turned in your job selections, its time to wait and prepare. Whether or not you have been selected for a job yet, its never too early to start preparing yourselves for those 8 1/2 weeks of separation and hard work.

When Mr. Superman turned in all of his paperwork he had submitted a list of five jobs he was highly interested in. Our situation was a little different because of his birth certificate being in Alabama, us being in Utah, all of his medical records in Arizona and our wedding certificate and my birth certificate MIA. It was stressful to say the least. To read about our experiences with all of our pre-BMT stress work hassle preparation (it is seriously lacking but just in case you are interested), you can do so here. The bottom five posts are from before he left. Long story short, he ended up being able to submit an additional 17 job choices and was selected for Munitions Systems (MUNS) which just happened to be his number five choice. It went hand in hand with what he had wanted to be doing after his finished his BS in Mechanical Engineering.

Always keep in mind that even if your loved one is selected for a job before BMT it is subject to change before they leave, while they're gone, before Tech School, during Tech school, pretty much anytime. The number one thing you need to cement in your mind from your first step into the world of all things military is that nothing is certain. NOTHING.

From the time we found out his job assignment to the date we had been given that he would be leaving for BMT we had something like 2 months. I don't really remember exactly because we had a whole lot of things happen but it felt like it was going to be a forever wait. Boy was I wrong. The last weeks I had with him before being separated for the first time since being married, flew by. They went by way too fast.

Things we did to prepare ourselves for BMT were mainly for Mr. Superman. He knew he'd have no problem with the classroom stuff because... well, he's a genius. Ha! Really though he was just wanting to try his best to get physically fit before going. He wasn't terribly out of shape but he had been sitting at a desk job for the previous two years. He started working out and would purposely run in the 110 degree Arizona weather to try and get used to the hell that would be San Antonio, TX. Even though he was in decent shape when he left, he lost 35 lbs and nearly 4 1/2 inches off of his waist by then end of BMT. It was more due to the 110 degree 90% humidity everyday more than the PT (physical training) regimen. We also made a budget plan for me to follow while he was gone. You always want to make sure that when your loved one leaves, they have written down all of the important phone numbers and addresses. You want to make sure that if you guys co-own a car or a house and are planning on selling them or anything else important, that all of the legal paperwork is done. Power of Attorney's are always a great thing to have done just in case.

For us, we were apart for 9 weeks and 2 days but that was because of extenuating circumstances. The length of BMT is 8 1/2 weeks and even though that length of time may seem daunting, you can do it! Thousands of people do it every year not to mention the incredible people who live through long separations due to deployments. The key to making it through with as little misery as possible is to STAY BUSY. Seriously. Work, go to school, learn new skills, clean, visit friends, spend time with family, take up a hobby, do anything and everything you want to and can do and the time will pass reasonably fast.

Also, write your man (or woman) everyday! Mr. Superman said my letters are what helped him through when he was homesick or worried about me. I wrote him some crazy long letters every day. It was therapeutic for me to still have the "how was your day today sweetie, mine was ___" conversation even if it was on paper. Don't hold out for phone calls but always be prepared to get them. Some people I know were unbelievably lucky and got one or two phone calls a week. Others were very similar to my experience which was two "official" 2 minute phone calls and I think 4 other phone calls where we were actually able to talk. I went 12 days without hearing anything from him but then when I needed his letters the most, I'd find them in the mail box. He also got one extended phone call because I had had surgery. Just be prepared for anything and everything. Stay calm, stay busy, and you'll be more than fine.

If you are curious and want to sort of follow along with your loved one during BMT I included a link below but I followed this one on my own when Mr. Superman was gone. Check it out here.

Notes:

MEPS: Military Entrance Processing Station. Useful information on MEPS and what to expect can be found here

ASVAB: Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. Great link to get more info on the ASVAB right here.

BMT: Basic Military Training. Great link on BMT general info right here. (It's older and gives an overview of the old 6-week program but it gives you the right idea of what goes on.)

Just keep in mind that you are now a part of the Air Force (military) family and it really is an incredible thing. There are always resources to discover and research and always new things to learn.

The Party Don't Start Til I Walk In...

You know, I've heard a lot of crazy stories from Mr. Superman and his buddies about the stuff they did to stay in high spirits while in BMT. I imagine being in the Air Force Academy they have a lot more opportunities and freedom for their creativity spectrum and entertainment. I love running across videos like this. They leave me laughing my head off. Enjoy lovelies :)

Post Edit** I found this one too and I love it! Most of the clips are from Iraq and Afghanistan. Good to see our troops having some fun. I love the last clip because you see the Iraqi kids cheering the soldier on.

You Shut Yo' Mouth!!

The two reasons for this post don't have anything in common really except for the fact that both situations were created by ignorant people running their mouths.

The first situation happened about two weeks ago but it (surprisingly) slipped my mind when it came to posting about it. I saw almost exactly the same thing posted on Mrs. G.I. Joe's blog so I decided I'd post about it. Hopefully between the two of us, we can stop someone from opening their mouth again if they too have these ridiculous opinions or thoughts.

In an online forum, I was asked what my husband did for a living. I said that he was active duty Air Force. I was then asked if he had ever been deployed. I responded that no, he had not due to his being sort of a newbie. This was a group discussion about how to balance being a wife and juggling house duties along with having a separate life. It had absolutely NOTHING to do with the war, politics, the Armed Forces... just balancing life. The first girl who had asked about Mr. Superman's career then had the gumption, balls, nerve, gall to say, "So your husband is just another twenty something year-old man who was too lazy to go to college and have a real job?" Stupid girl say what?

To say I was pissed is way too much of an understatement. My heart started to race, my throat tightened, and my instincts were to reach through the computer and strangle this idiot. Come on, I would have been doing the world a favor. I didn't even know where to start. I definitely didn't take a moment to calm down, think, then reply. I laid into her. Here it is. (I saved it because it was a pretty good rant)

"First off, the only reason I am even acknowledging your ignorance is, not to make myself feel better or for the sake of having an argument, but to hopefully correct you and the others in this forum on the pure trash that you just took the time to type out. God forbid someone actually agree with you. Even though everything you said shows how utterly obtuse you are, I am not expecting anything I say to change your backwards, mixed up way of thinking. Obviously, what you said is what you truly believe about our military. Your lack of respect for our troops is sickening and your lack of understanding is laughable. I'll let you in on a few things.

Just because my husband is in his twenties and in the military doesn't mean everyone in the military is in their twenties. Too many words for you? Okay, everyone in the military is different. Just as in any other field of work be it pro sports player, doctor, construction worker, or teacher, they are all individuals. Individuals means nobody is the same. They all have their own identity. For you to say, "He's just another twenty something..." would be like me saying you are just another insecure, dense, ungrateful American. Oh wait, my example is correct. My husband enlisted because it is something he had ALWAYS wanted to do. For the record, my husband is the smartest person I know. He completed 3 years of full-time school while working two full-time jobs. What do you do? Have you finished your degree? I'm pretty sure that even half of what he does makes him the complete opposite of "lazy". I think the word you were looking for is hard-working or perhaps persevering. The mix-up is understandable though with your little brain working double time trying to keep up with the conversation. I won't hold your absolute disregard against you. I will just hope that you will start to think before you talk/type. I will continue to feel sorry for you and your petty little opinions. Lastly I will state that my husband does indeed, have a "real" job. What he does day in and day out, alongside millions of others, active duty and otherwise, make our country safe, keep our country free, and allows you to spout off about things you don't know anything about."

This sadly, was not the first time I have met this attitude or opinion either. It is frustrating to say the least. Some people think that being in the military gets you attention and that's why people do it. Um... not even close. It is RARE to be acknowledged in a positive way or thanked. Yes, its true that when those rare occurrences do come along that Mr. Superman does feel a little proud. He loves his job. I am the one that is grateful beyond belief when people say "thanks". I love going places with him when he's in uniform. I feel special and so overwhelmingly proud it nearly brings me to tears. The reasons people enlist are all different but for the vast majority its because they desire to. They want to uphold our country's freedom and they are grateful to be given the opportunity to do so. Others think we do it for the money. That one is laughable. The military personnel don't make a whole lot. I promise. Even if he wasn't junior enlisted we wouldn't be making more than he could if he had a civilian job. Insane right?

Okay next situation. For those who know me know that I am extremely conservative. I say republican but I really lean further toward constitutionalist. For me, my religion comes first and the things I believe in and support politically, 100% reflect my beliefs and attitude religiously. One of the biggest things I advocate for is Pro-Life. I don't want to start an argument or political discussion. It is my belief that abortion is murder no matter why or when. No gray area, no straddling the line, just dry cut, clear and simple. I have been asked COUNTLESS times why I believe this and if I only started to support Pro-Life when I lost my first baby. First off, I believe this because I see abortion as murder. Murder is wrong. Anytime I hear about it, it makes me sick. I have always always always believed this way. I'm not a belief jumper and don't hopscotch over things that I don't agree with from time to time. My beliefs are solid and they stay the same. Yes, I have become an even more avid supporter of the Pro-Life movement since losing my babies and even more so since we discovered I cannot have children. It just really rubs me the wrong way when people snidely comment about my beliefs when it comes to this. Have some respect people.

Okay, I'm done.

You Know You're a Military Wife When...

I run across things like this all the time and I always find them funny. Funny because they are so true. I decided to put my own together with some help of a few friends who have actually seen the deployment part of it... because I needed to blog about something "light" and fun rather than having another downer session. Feel free to add!

1. You don't mind a phone call waking you up at 4 a.m.

2. You tell people that ask that he's 'only' been gone a month.

3. The smallest contact (short email or 2 minute phone call) from your man makes your entire week!

4. You cry over an email that says nothing more than "Hey- I love you and I miss you."

5. Those recruitment commercials on TV make you cry because you are so proud!

6. You sleep in PT attire, cuddled up in a poncho liner, because it's the closest you can come to being with your military man.

7. You know his "last four" better than your own.

8. Your stomach drops, your throat clenches, and you start to cry when you miss a phone call.

9. You know how to fold his sleeves as good as or better than he does.

10. You know how to recognize rank by uniforms.

11. You can recognize your man by the way he walks even though he is wearing the same exact thing as hundreds around him.

12. "No news is good news", "Hurry up and wait", and "Nothing is guaranteed"  become your mottos. You also understand the irony and oxy-moron that is, "Military Planning."

13. You could wait forever for your loved one to return home into your arms.

14. You feel yourself growing more and more in love with your military man even while he's so far away.

15. Planning letters/care packages and putting them in the mail is more exciting then going out for a night on the town with the girls.

16. You hold off on seeing certain movies so you can see them with your military man when he comes home.

17. Some military movies make you laugh at how "far off" they are and others make you bawl your eyes out.

18. You can go from being happy, to sad, to lonely, to angry, to proud, and back to happy in a matter of minutes.

19. You sleep with the phone right next to you or in your hand, just in case.

20. If he's gone, you stop doing your hair, make-up, dressing up, and you have decided shaving is pointless.

21. The sight of any other man in a uniform makes you miss your Mister MORE than it makes you drool.

22. You feel lucky for each second granted to the two of you.

23. You are 3000 miles apart and you don't notice the time difference and talk until 5 am his time 2 am your time on a school night.

24. Phone kisses are just as good as the real ones.

25. You realize you can forgive your hubby for not calling you for a few weeks due to the fact that he really did "have to work."

26. Your cell phone shows 87 screens full of the number 2 for "repeat message" after you hear he left you a voice mail because you missed his call.

27. Even though you PCS'ed 6 months ago, you are still finding number stickers on everything.

28. Your civilian family & friends get confused or offended when they can't understand your conversation. You know, "Civi's, PCS, ACU's, ABU's, BDU's, TDY, BMT, DFAS, the BX, DoD, AFES, TACP, AD...."

29. You don't bat an eyelash when he say's "Uh, Honey they changed when I'm supposed to return home, yet again".

30. Every time you see him it feel's like it's for the first time all over again...EVERY TIME.

31. You always know what day payday falls on and get ticked off or stressed when there are more than two weekends during that pay period.

32.You accidentally pull out your id to show the greeter at Walmart.

33. You write dates and times military style.

34. You've learned to sleep through the night flying of helicopters and planes, tanks, flares, and artillery simulators.

35. You know that "field" has nothing to do with a field.

36. You have your own set of tools and actually know how to fix things.

37. You have said, "Good to go", "Roger that", or "Hoorah" without even thinking about it.

38. You know better than to go to the commissary on or the day after pay day.

39. You know what a "high & tight" is and better yet learned to do it.

40. You know what boot bands are, what they are used for, and how to put them on.

NOTE: I included a link with the post of a cute little article written by a Navy wife. Enjoy my lovelies!

Currently Failing at Life

Its one of those days. No, its one of those weeks months. I know that sometimes I can be a little over dramatic but I am so not being over dramatic right now.

I feel like my body is falling apart and I am 22 years old. I have lost more body parts and have been cut open more in the last 12 months than most people I know that are 70. I have had to go to the ER, and three doctors in the last 10 days. That is insane. Apparently my migraines and daily nose bleeds are the effects of my super rare blood disease that by the way, got diagnosed this morning. Sweet. I had planned on going to class, getting certified on some skills and having them signed off, then trying to finish cleaning my house, do my homework, then get the Mr. from base to do some running then grocery shopping. It was supposed to be a normal Thursday. You know, just another day with too much to get done and not enough time.

I can't seem to balance my new status as nursing student with what I have come to be as a great wife who keeps a clean, organized house with yummy dinners every night. I haven't cooked since before we left for AZ which seems an eternity ago. I can't get my homework done every night without breaking down over how much information each assignment and chapter entails and how I am magically supposed to soak it all up, remember it, then ace the giant tests every few days. FAIL.

To top it all off its getting harder to paste on a smile every other day when I find out another friend or acquaintance is expecting a baby. Don't get me wrong, I really do get excited and happy for them, and most of them are the most deserving people I know, but after 2 1/2 years of nothing but trying and hoping for a baby only to lose two precious children, my fallopian tubes, and what seems like all hope of having a child of our own, on our own.... Like I said, its getting harder. Harder doesn't even begin to explain how it feels but I won't keep going on.

Despite the horrible day/week/month I have had I know that it could always be worse. I am extraordinarily lucky to have Mr. Superman by my side, at home, and the life that we have built for ourselves. I have great family and friends and of course, my Heavenly Father. Besides, I still have to go get the Mr., do my homework, and go grocery shopping. When it rains, it pours but life doesn't care enough to pause for you to grab an umbrella.

Sorry for the rant/falling apart. I hope you all are having an enjoyable day and lovely week. For me its the start of my weekend. Hopefully I'll be more put together by the next time I decide to blog.

Kindred Connection #2

Windy Poplars

Here are the quickie instructions again for those who are new.

*Grab the Party Button
*Answer the questions on your blog
*Link to your post via Mr. Linky at Kindred Connection at Windy-Poplars

Remember if your blog is about "marriage, family, faith, decorating, crafts, travel, gardening, saving money, cooking, homemaking, style, and a dash of everyday life!" then you are a Kindred Blogger!

Here are week #2's questions:

 1. What is your favorite vacation spot?

Ooohh the Mr. and I both love California (Newport, Huntington, Balboa) so so so much but when he got home last year (he had been gone for our 2 year wedding anniversary), he surprised me with an ocean-side room in Panama City Beach, Florida. It was GLORIOUS. We have decided to make it our anniversary tradition for as long as we can.

2. What are the three qualities that you most admire about your husband (or if you're not married what are the three qualities you would most desire in a man)?

Oh choosing only three is so hard! I think by far that Mr. Superman's unconditional love for me (you have NO idea how much he has had to put up with, deal with, take care of on my part) tops the list. I love how hard of a worker he is. Not just in his job as part of the USAF but also how hard he works around the house and taking care of me. He's always going non-stop. Number three will have to be his desire for a baby as much as me. We both were devastated when we got the diagnosis of infertility and he has been so good about holding me together. The fact that his heart is broken too shows me how completely connected we are. Someday we'll have our miracle.

3. What has been a meaningful Bible verse to you this week?

John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." I have to confess, I read this several times a week. Its something that has been helping me since I was 14. Love it.

4. What is your favorite color(or colors) and why?

Hmmmm difficult difficult. Green, black, and pink. I'm huge on color combos thought like black, pink, white, & gray or pink & green, or aqua & pink or aqua & brown. I'm a lover of color.

5. What is the funniest thing that happened to you in the last 24 hours?

I don't know if its been in the last 24 hours because my time blurs but Mr. Superman and I were driving home from running errands and I had an empty bowl and fork (from strawberries I had eaten on the way) sitting in the console next to the cup holders. He turned and the fork flew out and stabbed him in the foot. It wasn't funny but I lost it. I mean LOST it. I have not laughed that hard in over a year. Even funnier was his face when that first laugh flew out of my mouth. He tries so hard to keep a straight face sometimes but he's not very good at it. I know he's struggling when his his nostrils start flaring and he bites his bottom lip to keep from smiling. His whole "serious and angry" facade fell apart. I laughed so hard my stomach hurt. It was fantastic.

Alright lovelies, join the Kindred Connection. It's great!

Mr. Superman

This man right here has my heart. He is absolutely the love of my life. He loves me with no limits. I love that he loves me. All around me are people squandering their love, treating people with no kindness, getting their hearts broken, lonely people so unhappy they hate life... I am so extraordinarily grateful that this man came into my life. He saved me. He is incredible. He's also making dinner. Sweet.

A Military Wife

I've been trying to catch up on my blog reading and saw this posted on my friend Marie's over at ABU's & Cute Tennis Shoes. She always posts great stuff and I loved this so I had to steal it. It wasn't written by her and she isn't sure who did write it but its PERFECT. It was just what I needed on a day like today. A reminder that the sacrifice and "hard stuff" is all worth it.

"A military wife is mostly girl. But there are times, such as when her husband is away and she is mowing the lawn or fixing a youngster's bike, that she begins to suspect she is also boy. She usually comes in three sizes: petite, plump and pregnant. During the early years of her marriage it is often hard to determine which size is her normal one.

She has babies all over the world and measures time in terms of places as other women do in years. "It was in England that the children had the chicken pox...In was in Texas, Paul was promoted..." At least one of her babies was born or a transfer was accomplished while she was alone. This causes her to suspect a secret pact between her husband and the military providing for a man to be overseas or on temporary duty at times such as these.

A military wife is international. She may be a Kansas farm girl, a French mademoiselle, a Japanese doll, or a German Fraulein. When discussing service problems, they all speak the same language. She can be a great actress. To heartbroken children at transfer time, she gives an Academy Award performance: "New Mexico is going to be such fun! I hear they have Indian reservations...and tarantulas...and rattlesnakes." But her heart is breaking with theirs. She wonders if this is worth the sacrifice.

An ideal military wife has the patience of an angel, the flexibility of putty, the wisdom of a scholar and the stamina of a horse.

If she dislikes money, it helps.

She is sentimental, carrying her memories with her in an old footlocker. One might say she is a bigamist, sharing her husband with a demanding entity called "duty." When duty calls, she becomes No. 2.

Until she accepts this fact, her life can be miserable.

She is above all a woman who married a man who offered her the permanency of a gypsy, the miseries of loneliness, the frustration of conformity and the security of love. Sitting among her packing boxes with squabbling children nearby, she is sometimes willing to chuck it all in until she hears the firm step and cheerful voice of the lug who gave her all this.

Then she is happy to be...his military wife.
"

I hope you all enjoyed. Until next time my blog lovelies.

Going Green

Bahaha I am laughing at my post. If you know me well then you know why. No blog lovelies, I am not going granola. I did however do something this weekend that made me feel a little green(er). I picked my own fresh strawberries! Well, not my own but they are mine now. Let me just tell you all, they are absolutely and incredibly DELICIOUS! Bright, ruby red, juicy, ginormous strawberries. MMM!

Our weekend was relaxing (minus the 9 1/2 hours of combined homework time and ginomo migraine that I think I caught from my sister over the phone while she had hers in AZ. True story). We got lots of time together (the best), had some divine bbq, went strawberry picking, found some 8 year old sparklers in my memory box, and attempted to find a decently priced law mower (fail). All in all it was fantastic.

The picture montage includes Mr. Superman's (special) face, his grumpy face, me showin' my muscles to go pickin', a brown gator we found on base, picking strawberries, our sparklers, Mr. Superman catching me with a dandelion, and our gnarly back yard full of wild flower weed things. (We desperately need a lawn mower.) Enjoy!

*Ignore my defunkitated hair in the later picks. I had taken my little side braids out. I'm in the midst of a awkward hair stage*

A bit of sunshine on a cloudy Sunday

I've been doing some Sunday cruising on the blogs and was checkin' up on my new friend Mrs. G.I. Joe  and I fell in love with this video she had posted. I completely agree with her on the fact that I was crying through the entire thing. Good tears! Mr. Superman and I have been extremely lucky in the fact that we are still fairly new to the military world (a year is still baby status), so we have not yet had to deal with deployments. This has gotta be one of the only and best highlights of said deployments. Enjoy, share, support our troops!
