You Know You're a Military Wife When...

I run across things like this all the time and I always find them funny. Funny because they are so true. I decided to put my own together with some help of a few friends who have actually seen the deployment part of it... because I needed to blog about something "light" and fun rather than having another downer session. Feel free to add!

1. You don't mind a phone call waking you up at 4 a.m.

2. You tell people that ask that he's 'only' been gone a month.

3. The smallest contact (short email or 2 minute phone call) from your man makes your entire week!

4. You cry over an email that says nothing more than "Hey- I love you and I miss you."

5. Those recruitment commercials on TV make you cry because you are so proud!

6. You sleep in PT attire, cuddled up in a poncho liner, because it's the closest you can come to being with your military man.

7. You know his "last four" better than your own.

8. Your stomach drops, your throat clenches, and you start to cry when you miss a phone call.

9. You know how to fold his sleeves as good as or better than he does.

10. You know how to recognize rank by uniforms.

11. You can recognize your man by the way he walks even though he is wearing the same exact thing as hundreds around him.

12. "No news is good news", "Hurry up and wait", and "Nothing is guaranteed"  become your mottos. You also understand the irony and oxy-moron that is, "Military Planning."

13. You could wait forever for your loved one to return home into your arms.

14. You feel yourself growing more and more in love with your military man even while he's so far away.

15. Planning letters/care packages and putting them in the mail is more exciting then going out for a night on the town with the girls.

16. You hold off on seeing certain movies so you can see them with your military man when he comes home.

17. Some military movies make you laugh at how "far off" they are and others make you bawl your eyes out.

18. You can go from being happy, to sad, to lonely, to angry, to proud, and back to happy in a matter of minutes.

19. You sleep with the phone right next to you or in your hand, just in case.

20. If he's gone, you stop doing your hair, make-up, dressing up, and you have decided shaving is pointless.

21. The sight of any other man in a uniform makes you miss your Mister MORE than it makes you drool.

22. You feel lucky for each second granted to the two of you.

23. You are 3000 miles apart and you don't notice the time difference and talk until 5 am his time 2 am your time on a school night.

24. Phone kisses are just as good as the real ones.

25. You realize you can forgive your hubby for not calling you for a few weeks due to the fact that he really did "have to work."

26. Your cell phone shows 87 screens full of the number 2 for "repeat message" after you hear he left you a voice mail because you missed his call.

27. Even though you PCS'ed 6 months ago, you are still finding number stickers on everything.

28. Your civilian family & friends get confused or offended when they can't understand your conversation. You know, "Civi's, PCS, ACU's, ABU's, BDU's, TDY, BMT, DFAS, the BX, DoD, AFES, TACP, AD...."

29. You don't bat an eyelash when he say's "Uh, Honey they changed when I'm supposed to return home, yet again".

30. Every time you see him it feel's like it's for the first time all over again...EVERY TIME.

31. You always know what day payday falls on and get ticked off or stressed when there are more than two weekends during that pay period.

32.You accidentally pull out your id to show the greeter at Walmart.

33. You write dates and times military style.

34. You've learned to sleep through the night flying of helicopters and planes, tanks, flares, and artillery simulators.

35. You know that "field" has nothing to do with a field.

36. You have your own set of tools and actually know how to fix things.

37. You have said, "Good to go", "Roger that", or "Hoorah" without even thinking about it.

38. You know better than to go to the commissary on or the day after pay day.

39. You know what a "high & tight" is and better yet learned to do it.

40. You know what boot bands are, what they are used for, and how to put them on.

NOTE: I included a link with the post of a cute little article written by a Navy wife. Enjoy my lovelies!

Yes...I love this post! I have seen it before. I only wear his PT gear when I am at home. I would totally wear it out and about...but I'm pretty sure that someone would stop me and tell me that it is not allowed:( Darn!!!!!
